This
technique has been around since 1985 and is drawn from
Neuro-Linguistic Programming, particularly from the
work of William James, Milton Erickson and Tad James.
The
Time Line Therapy technique is an extremely powerful
way of accelerating human change. It can change aspects
of personality very quickly, so it must be practiced
by those who know what they are doing.
Your
"time line" is how you unconsciously store
your memories from the past and project the future.
Behavioural change actually takes place at an unconscious
level. People don't change consciously. So many change
initiatives fail because they fail to release the effects
of negative memories or engage the mind in creating
a more successful future. It can be used in teams to
enhance excellence through positive thinking. People
learn how to deal with their own self-limiting beliefs,
adopt more effective questioning and listening skills,
and build deep levels of rapport. Managers can learn
new paradigms for inspiring learning in challenging
environments.
It
can be used to address all types of negative emotions,
such as anger, frustration, temper, upset, annoyance,
irritation, hate, hostility, outrage, guilt,regret,
apprehension, distrust, sadness, grief, sorrow, depression,
panic attacks, traumas, post-traumatic stress, rejection,
boredom, shyness, jealousy, helplessness worry, low
self-esteem, phobias, lack of confidence, unwanted beliefs
or thoughts, anxiety or apathy.
When
unpleasant emotions start having a negative impact on
our lives, something is wrong and needs attention if
it is not to lead to poor health and sadness. All negative
emotions have the potential to be very destructive,
seriously affecting your health and happiness. Time
Line Therapy does not require people to relate their
history or tell their life story. It works by identifying
the source of unpleasant feelings an removing them,
thereby playing an important part in healing body and
mind. See Emotional
Freedom Technique
The
process is designed to connect your conscious and unconscious
mind to uncover the real cause of the problem and help
you think positively. It involves a number of very simple,
easy, natural techniques which allow you to release
past events and obstacles, replacing unpleasant with
pleasant memories.
The
role of the unconscious mind is to preserve the body's
health by maintaining a balanced and peaceful mind -
a process known as autopoiesis.
The unconscious also stores memories by time and subject
and suppresses those memories which cause the body distress.
That's why the unconscious mind keeps presenting distressing
memories to the conscious mind for resolution. Those
nagging feelings and tensions that just wont go away.
Behavioural
therapy can take weeks, Eriksonian Hypnothrapy days,
whereas Time Line Therapy gets sustainable results in
hours.
