Strategic
Learning
Strategic
learning makes a direct link between the needs of the business
or service and formal learning activity. The learning would
be focused on meeting specific needs, but be flexible enough
to respond to the different needs arising from different parts
of the organisation.
Strategic
learning requires flexible learning resources and coaches.
Some organisations introduce learning contracts, usually from
the top-down and using 360 degree feedback. The contracts
would link personal learning needs with the strategic priorities
of the organisation.
To be strategic the learning activities
must have an organisation-wide commitment, wityh top management
giving demonstratble support. The learning should be focused
on the strategic imperatives and cultural change objectives
of the organisation. The commitment must be to the long-term
- not a quick fix, and the learning must cross many boundaries.
