We
see coaching as fundamentally a learning and change process, one
that involves a number of core activities and skills. They are summarised
in the attached Skill Gyms leaflet. For us, coaching involves creating
a helping relationship, one that is conducive to reflective learning
and a willingness to take action to change our 'way of being'. This
requires a heightened awareness of the reality we create for ourselves
in the language we use, the mood and emotional states we adopt and
how we move and feel in our body - our shared human ontology.
Our
Skill Gyms assume that participants will want to adopt a "hands-on"
approach to coaching as an aid to leadership and behaviour change
in the workplace. We adjust the content to deliver a more cognitive
approach if required by the client sponsor.
